What the buyer wants

The Council of the City of Wakefield is seeking a service provider to deliver information, advice, and support services for adult and young adult unpaid carers in the Wakefield District. The contract starts April 2027 for two years with possible extensions up to five years, valued at approximately £3.9 million.

Wakefield Metropolitan District Council (the Council) wishes to commission a Service to provide information, advice and support for Adult and Young Adult Carers living in Wakefield District.

Unpaid carers are a vital part of the health and care system, providing essential support to family members, friends and neighbors who have an illness, disability, mental health condition, substance dependency or care needs associated with ageing. Their contribution enables thousands of people to remain independent, connected to their communities and living in their own homes, whilst reducing demand on statutory health and care services.

The proposed contract will commence on the 1 April 2027, for a two-year period, to 31 March 2029, with options to extend for up to three years, to 31 March 2032.

The estimated total contract value including extensions is £3,922,950
