What the buyer wants

Denbighshire County Council seeks a contractor to upgrade the Pwll y Grawys area in Denbigh to improve active travel infrastructure for pedestrians and cyclists, including footpath extensions, new mini-roundabouts, crossings, and footway enhancements.

Denbighshire County Council wishes to appoint a contractor for a scheme in Denbigh that will upgrade the Pwll y Grawys area of the town, improving and extending existing footpaths to enhance active travel connectivity, journey quality, and ease of movement for pedestrians and cyclists.

The proposed upgrade measures include removing the existing roundabout and replacing it with two mini-roundabouts, installing a zebra crossing, widening sections of existing narrow paths, increasing the junction radius, improving crossing facilities, introducing dropped kerbs, and enhancing the quality of the footways.

The aim of these improvements is to develop active travel links—specifically for school pupils and those seeking access to the town centre from residential areas to the west of the town—and to encourage walking and cycling as modes of travel within the town and beyond.

Denbigh is a traditional market town that attracts tourism thanks to its medieval history and castle. It is located in the heart of Denbighshire.
