Operation and maintenance services for landfill gas and leachate management at Corby closed landfill site to ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
Corby Closed Landfill is located on the northern outskirts of Corby. The landfill covers approximately thirteen (13) hectares. The volume of waste deposited into the site is unknown but is estimated to be in the order of 1.4Mm3 to a depth of around sixteen (16) metres. The buried waste produces landfill gas and leachate. The site has no form of impermeable containment and as such is considered to be a "dilute and disperse" site. The Council has a statutory duty under the Environmental Protection Act 1990 to manage the risks posed by the gas and leachate emissions produced on site.
The procurement of the Closed Landfill Site Operations and Maintenance will enable the Council to continue to fulfil its statutory obligations under Part 2A of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and remain compliant with the site's Environmental Permit and Trade Effluent Consent.
